Athabasca University Geophysical Observatory AUGO-2, Athabasca
The Athabasca University Geophysical Observatory (AUGO) is an international facility for research into the aurora borealis.
AUGO II is Canada’s newest and most complete subauroral observatory. The facility contains six climate-controlled optical observation suites on the upper level, each equipped with a spectrally flat transparent acrylic dome, providing an unobstructed view of the night sky and the northern horizon. The observatory provides fully equipped residential facilities that are wheelchair accessible. AUGO II is located in a remote area to protect against potential interference from the man-made light pollution. This unique observatory is capable of housing additional guest researchers during weeklong observing campaigns.
