 Christopher M. FILIPOWICZ

Chris has been practicing architecture for over thirty-five years, starting his career in an academic environment at various teaching positions and moving on to the private practice of architecture, where he remains active at a Principal level since 1995. With a strong interest and passion for architecture in service of a general public, he has developed considerable portfolio of projects, varied in scale and complexity. Chris’ work encompasses master planning, functional programming, building assessments, feasibility studies as well as full scope of architecture and interior design. A resident of Alberta since 1983 he has built experience on a variety of project types including institutional, healthcare, academic, research, religious, commercial and retail, ranging from small renovations, to new facilities and exceeding $150M in a single contract construction value.

Chris’ passion is to be engaged in projects that accommodate unique operational, technical, and functional requirements, frequently innovative both in the approach, and in the outcomes. He applies managerial and interpersonal skills to lead the expanded consulting team, focusing attention on the client’s priorities and operational efficiency, without compromising the quality of the created environment. His dedication to excellence in architectural design resulted in the development of facilities that reinforce community spirit, aspire to educate and strive to enrich the experience of their users. He combines planning skills with the ability to communicate specific ideas during a dynamic and interactive design process.

Complementary to his design activities Chris has been also active in the architectural community. As a former counsellor, and a member of the Alberta Association of Architects Board, he fulfilled responsibilities of the Complaint Review Board Chair. He continues his volunteer duties within Consulting Architects of Alberta, a business forum for professionals in the province.
