Calgary Opportunities:

Junior/Intermediate Architectural Graduate or Technologist

We are seeking out a mildly seasoned architectural graduate or technologist with a range of design and technical abilities to join our Calgary studio team. Is that individual you?

Your experience has given you skills to tackle complex and challenging problems turning them into successful and robustly developed solutions. You’re honed in on construction detailing resulting in such exquisite execution that contractors would never need to issue an RFI. And if they did, you have the negotiating talent to loosen any dug in heels. Your past managers and supervisors didn’t want to see you go but knew you were looking for growth; growth in which we are eager to offer.

If you have a minimum of 3 years experience as an architectural technologist executing design and construction drawings along with contract administration experience, we would love to hear from you.

Work Experience and Education:

  • Related architectural degree or diploma in Architectural

  • minimum 3 years working Canadian experience as a designer/technologist in construction project active companies (or equivalent with English as a primary language country)

  • experience in public sector projects, municipal, healthcare, recreation, post-secondary education and similar a bonus

  • demonstrated practical knowledge of complex renovation projects an asset

Demonstrated Skills and Character Traits:

  • sense of humour

  • good attitude and positive thinking

  • strong listening, speaking, and writing proficiency in English

  • amazing graphic representation abilities: digital and analog

  • project sub-consultant coordination

  • providing input to preparation of technical specifications

  • familiarity with the Alberta Building Code, National Building Code, and National Energy Code of Canada for Buildings

  • accompanying contract administrator on site visits, including travel

  • professional degree in architecture and registration with the AAA (or other Canadian jurisdiction with the ability to become registered in Alberta)

  • minimum 5-10 years working Canadian experience as a registered Architect in construction project active companies (or equivalent with English as a primary language country)

  • experience in public sector projects, municipal, healthcare, recreation, post-secondary education and similar

  • demonstrated practical knowledge of complex renovation projects an asset

Responsibilities and professional engagement to execute the breadth of architectural services for a project as described in the RAIC CHOP guide including, but not limited to:

  • taking a project from start to finish from project kick-off to facility turn over with limited supervision

  • client liaison

  • project administrator and/or contract administration

  • review and approval of project progress invoicing by sub-consultants

  • collaborating with other team members in the office such as architects, intern architects, architectural technologists and contract administrators

  • project sub-consultant coordination

  • production of design materials and contract documents; models, renderings, presentations

  • providing input to preparation of technical specifications

  • familiarity with the Alberta Building Code, National Building Code, and National Energy Code of Canada for Buildings

  • site visits, including travel

  • assisting in writing proposals and promotion of the consulting services
