Calgary Opportunities:

Architect - HFKS Architects is looking for a full-time architect for our Calgary studio with a possibility for a similar position in the Edmonton office. We are a close-knit group that works in a highly collaborative environment ensuring a robust execution of our projects. We are looking for that unique individual that will strengthen our team with the following in mind:

Work Experience and Education:

  • professional degree in architecture and registration with the AAA (or other Canadian jurisdiction with the ability to become registered in Alberta)

  • minimum 5-10 years working Canadian experience as a registered Architect in construction project active companies (or equivalent with English as a primary language country)

  • experience in public sector projects, municipal, healthcare, recreation, post-secondary education and similar

  • demonstrated practical knowledge of complex renovation projects an asset

  • good attitude and positive thinking

  • strong listening, speaking, and writing proficiency in English

  • effective graphic representation abilities: digital and analog

Responsibilities and professional engagement to execute the breadth of architectural services for a project as described in the RAIC CHOP guide including, but not limited to:

  • taking a project from start to finish from project kick-off to facility turn over with limited supervision

  • client liaison

  • project administrator and/or contract administration

  • review and approval of project progress invoicing by sub-consultants

  • collaborating with other team members in the office such as architects, intern architects, architectural technologists and contract administrators

  • project sub-consultant coordination

  • production of design materials and contract documents; models, renderings, presentations

  • providing input to preparation of technical specifications

  • familiarity with the Alberta Building Code, National Building Code, and National Energy Code of Canada for Buildings

  • site visits, including travel

  • assisting in writing proposals and promotion of the consulting services

Edmonton Opportunities:

Interior Designer/ID Technologist

We have an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual who is looking to join our team to contribute with his or her talent and enthusiasm, and to pursue professional and personal development. As an Intermediate Interior Designer or ID Technologist, you will participate in designing a variety of spaces that complement, and at times, shape the architectural concepts. Our practice is predominantly in institutional projects and as such offers opportunities to meet and work with a diverse client groups and consultants. Excellent presentation verbal and written communication skills, developing leadership qualities and ability to work in a team environment are required. Good working knowledge of AutoCAD and 3-D modeling (Revit, Sketch-Up) would be desired. A minimum 3 years Canadian experience in an architectural or interior design firm is also a definite asset to offer.
